Description

These tasty biscuits can be added to any menu or rolled into sweet or savoury treats. See Spring 2025 Prairies North Magazine, Spring 2025, for other great biscuit recipes.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

5 tablespoons butter, melted

2 cups sifted flour

2 teaspoons sugar

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 cup or less of buttermilk

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 450°F and put the butter on to melt.

Sift and measure flour and sift again with the remaining ingredients. (I use a whisk)

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Add buttermilk and melted butter.

Stir with a fork until the ingredients are moistened and the dough follows the fork around the bowl.

Turn the dough onto a floured board and knead gently about ten strokes.

Roll or pat to ½ – inch thickness.

Using a 2-inch round biscuit cutter, cut biscuits without twisting the cutter. Bake on an ungreased pan for 10 to 12 minutes.
