Nadine Kannigan did a fantastic job interviewing Maureen and Gord, together. The Haddocks often finish each other’s sentences or speak at one time. She steered them through a discussion about life and business, keeping them on track for almost an hour. This was Nadine’s first interview as host of Chamber on Tap and it was the kickoff to the fall 2019 season. Well done Nadine!
Maureen Haddock nominated Wajid and Maysoon of First Impressions Hair Design for the 2016 Newcomer Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. This video is significant because it was the last production the Haddocks did with their TV Truck partner, Rob Wurzer, before his death. The video was part of the nomination package Maureen submitted to SREDA and it helped Wajid and Maysoon win the Spirit Award. Maureen wrote Maysoon and Wajid’s biography, which recounts their many attempts to escape Iraq, their love story, their journey to becoming Canadian, and their success as entrepreneurs in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The book is titled With Love, From Iraq: A true story of hope, perseverance, and becoming Canadian. The book has sold well and Maureen, Wajid, and Maysoon continue to visit book clubs and attend bookstore events.
Gord and Maureen Haddock launched the Get a Bigger Wagon Young Entrepreneur Awards, for young people ages 7 to 15 years of age, by showing up in a massive wagon at the Edwards Centennial Celebration in September of 2018. The Haddocks thank Gary Grady for making this launch possible. Gary is the creator of this big rig, which is licensed and highway worthy. Launching an entrepreneurship award should be fun.
Maureen Haddock read excerpts from her book With love, From Iraq during a thank-you breakfast held at Smitty’s in Market Mall. The restaurant allowed Maureen to interview Wajid and Maysoon, weekly, for two and a half years, while writing the book. After breakfast, Wajid and Maysoon joined Maureen at a book signing at Coles in Market Mall.
With Love, From Iraq: A true story of hope, perseverance, and becoming Canadian tells the story of Wajid and Maysoon’s journey from a troubled Iraq toward success as Canadian citizens and business operators. This short video captures some of their pivotal moments.
With only a few days until Christmas, author Maureen Haddock spent a morning with Mr. Baraniuk’s grade eight class at Greystone Heights. Maureen was thrilled to see one Get a Bigger Wagon book per student in the classroom. These students made Maureen’s day.
This footage was taken at PrintWest’s bindery in late August 2013, as the second printing of Get a Bigger Wagon was in its final stages. We thank everyone who bought books for themselves and for gifts.
