Description

This lemon sauce is a tangy-yet-sweet surprise for your taste buds. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale

1 tablespoon butter

1 well-beaten egg

3/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1/8 teaspoon salt

Grated rind of one lemon

Instructions

In a double boiler, mix honey, well-beaten egg, lemon juice, and salt. Add 1 tablespoon of melted butter. Stir well.

Cook until thick, stirring constantly. When thickened, stir in the grated lemon rind.

Notes

I store the sauce in a jar in the refrigerator. I enjoy it over bread pudding, fruit bread, porridge, fruit salad, and/or white cake.

If you want to use this recipe as a tart filling, simply add a second egg.
