Maureen Haddock Honoured by College of Education

Awards Celebration, 2017

Maureen Haddock was one of five University of Saskatchewan, College of Education alumni to receive a 2016 Education Wall of Honour Award. Dr. Michelle Prytula, Dean of Education, presented Maureen with her award for her involvement in business and philanthropy. Maureen spoke about her journey outside of the regular classroom, explaining that her Bachelor of Education opened many doors for her during her business career. She also stressed the importance of mentorship, the joy of giving back, and the benefits of generations staying connected.

Earlier in the afternoon, Maureen presented the Maureen and Gordon Haddock Education Scholarship, aimed to assist an education student, with a passion for writing, and who is likely to inspire students to write. This year’s recipient was Ms. Ashlie Estabrooks, who will graduate in the spring of 2017 with her Bachelor of Education. Maureen was pleased to meet Ashlie privately, before the actual presentation, allowing time for the two to discuss teaching and writing.

Dr. Dawn Wallin, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, Partnerships, and Research was the emcee for the occasion and managed to sprinkle humour and love throughout the afternoon.
